Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Boondock (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Boondock App LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Boondock," "we," "us," or "our"). If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
The Service
Boondock is a mobile application for iOS and Android that helps you discover, research, and plan visits to dispersed camping areas and public lands. The App aggregates site information from public sources, generates AI-assisted summaries, and offers tools to browse and save locations.
Boondock is an informational tool. It is not an official government service, and it does not grant or guarantee access to any public land.
License Grant
Subject to these Terms, Boondock grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
- Distribute, sublicense, sell, or transfer the App or any portion of it to any third party
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App except to the extent permitted by applicable law
- Remove or obscure any proprietary notices in the App
Account
Eligibility. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Account Security. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential. Do not share your password or allow others to access your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us at legal@boondock.app promptly.
Account Deletion. You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings or by contacting us. Deleting your account cancels access to Boondock+ features but does not automatically cancel your subscription through Apple or Google. You must cancel your subscription separately through your platform account settings before deleting your account to avoid further charges.
Subscriptions (Boondock+)
Pricing
Boondock+ is available on two billing cycles:
- Monthly: $4.99 USD per month
- Annual: $35.00 USD per year
Prices are in US dollars and may vary by region due to platform pricing or applicable taxes.
Auto-Renewal
Your subscription auto-renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your payment method on file with Apple or Google will be charged at the start of each new period.
Billing
All billing is processed by Apple (via Apple In-App Purchase) or Google (via Google Play Billing), depending on which platform you use. Boondock does not collect or store your payment information directly.
Refunds
Refund requests are handled according to Apple's and Google's refund policies. Boondock does not process refunds directly. To request a refund, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.
Cancellation
To cancel your subscription, go to your subscription settings in your Apple ID or Google Play account and cancel from there. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to Boondock+ features until that date.
Free Trials
If a free trial is offered, it will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Data Accuracy Disclaimer
We aggregate site information from public sources, including the federal Recreation Information Database (RIDB), Bureau of Land Management (BLM) resources, agency websites, and archived community data. This information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.
We aggregate from public sources (BLM, USFS, NPS, state agencies). Conditions change. Always verify with the land manager before relying on app data for safety, access, or stay decisions.
Specifically, before visiting any site:
- Confirm current access, road conditions, and seasonal closures with the managing agency
- Verify applicable fees, permit requirements, and stay limits
- Check for fire restrictions, weather conditions, and any posted rules
AI-generated summaries in the App are produced automatically and may contain errors. Do not treat them as authoritative guidance.
You camp and use public lands at your own risk. Boondock is not responsible for conditions you encounter in the field.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the App or its underlying services by automated means
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense site data obtained through the App
- Submit automated or scripted requests to the App's AI summary feature or any other feature
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our systems or interfere with other users
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.
Intellectual Property
Our Content
The App, its design, code, trademarks, logos, and all content we produce are owned by Boondock or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. "Boondock" and associated marks are our trademarks. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to use our marks.
Third-Party Data
Site data sourced from federal and state agencies remains the property of those agencies and is subject to their respective terms of use. We do not claim ownership of government data.
User-Generated Content
Boondock does not currently support user-generated content. If that changes in a future version, we will update these Terms accordingly.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the App is capped at the total subscription fees you paid to Boondock in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- We are not liable for any property damage, personal injury, or loss of life arising from your use of or access to any public land you discovered or researched through the App.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Boondock, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your visits to any site you located or researched through the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party
We reserve the right to assume control of the defense of any matter subject to indemnification by you, at our expense.
Termination
By You. You may stop using the App at any time. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription; follow the cancellation steps under the Subscriptions section.
By Us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. We will not be liable to you for any such suspension or termination.
Effect of Termination. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, and Governing Law) will survive.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute not resolved through arbitration may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
Dispute Resolution
Informal Resolution First
If you have a dispute with us, please contact us at legal@boondock.app before filing any formal claim. We will try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days.
Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, you and Boondock agree to resolve the dispute through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Either party may seek emergency injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect confidential information or intellectual property rights pending arbitration.
Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by law, you and Boondock each waive the right to bring or participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable with respect to a particular claim, that claim will proceed in court rather than arbitration.
Small Claims
Nothing in this section prevents either party from bringing an eligible claim in small claims court.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app announcement at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, stop using the App and cancel your subscription before the effective date.
