Questions, answered short.

Most of what people ask about Boondock comes down to fifteen things. Here they are, in plain english.

Is Boondock really free?

Yes. Install for free. Browse the full database for free. You can run Boondock forever without paying. Premium unlocks offline maps, cell coverage data per site, and AI site summaries.

What's the catch with the free tier?

There isn't one. no ads. no signup wall. no email harvesting. the free tier gives you the whole site database. premium is for offline use and richer per-site context.

How fresh is the site data?

Every site shows a verification date tied to the source agency's last update. when the bureau of land management updates a record, boondock picks it up within a day.

Which agencies are covered?

BLM, US forest service, national park service, bureau of reclamation, US army corps of engineers, US fish and wildlife service, NOAA, TVA, state parks, and a handful of navy and other military recreation sites.

Do you have cell coverage info?

Yes, on premium. The panel shows FCC reported coverage and OpenCellID observations within 5 km. If no observations exist, the panel is hidden rather than padded with guesses.

How do offline maps work?

Tap a region, download the tiles, drive in. The tiles cache on your phone. You can pan, zoom, and check site pins without service. Yearly users can download unlimited regions. Monthly users can keep one region at a time.

Can i use it without an account?

Yes. Browsing, filtering, and viewing every site works with no account. You only sign up if you want to save favorites or pay for premium.

Do you store my location?

No. The app uses your device's location to filter nearby sites. nothing leaves the phone. anonymous analytics tells us which screens get used. nothing more.

What's the difference between yearly and lifetime?

Yearly is $35 a year and covers every feature. Lifetime is $49 once and never renews. If you plan to camp for more than 18 months, lifetime is cheaper.

Can i cancel any time?

Yes. Monthly and yearly subscriptions cancel from the app store or play store settings any time. You keep access until the period ends.

Do you have campground reviews?

No. Boondock surfaces agency-published site data. For user reviews, use Campendium or The Dyrt. Boondock is the source-of-truth layer, not a review platform.

Do you take user-submitted sites?

Not in v1. The iOverlander 2 paywall happened because user-submitted data created a moat the platform could later monetize. Boondock keeps the data sources public and attributable instead.

Is there a trip planner?

No. For routing, use gaia gps, onx offroad, or Google maps. Boondock helps you find the site. Your map app gets you there.

Ios or android?

Both, day one. Same features, same price, same data on each.

What countries are covered?

US only at launch. The public-data foundation for BLM, USFS, and NPS is uniquely good in the US. International expansion comes only when the data quality matches.
